ClockOut: How Am I Doing?
How are you DOING Halfway into 2017?
We are halfway into 2017 already! It's time to recalibrate ourselves so that we can take stock of what we have done, what else we have to do, and more importantly to figure out how we are feeling at this point in time.
During the beginning of the year, we feel motivated and we have a set of goals that we want to work on. But it is very easy to lose our way and get caught up in the daily grind that we forget about our goals. The goals could have been about spending more time with the family, working on our side projects, or even on our health.
We will also reflect on how we feel about what's going on in the 4 major pillars in our lives: work, play, love, and health. Are we happy with the time we spend on each pillar? Is that enough for us? Which area do we need to work on and why?
This ClockOut sessions' exercises are based on the book "Designing Your Life," a movement to build a well-lived, joyful life with Bill Burnett and Dave Evans. They have curated their research of over 2 decades of conducting this module to Stanford students to mid-career professionals to retirees contemplating a whole new future.
So lets get together and figure out how we are feeling at this point in time and what we can do to make the rest of 2017 a kickass year!
What is ClockOut series?
ClockOut is a space that you can come to essentially "clock out" from the daily grind. It is a space where for 2-3 hours a month, you can completely switch off from the crazy world outside and set aside me-time for yourself. Here you will be able to consciously spend time reflecting on how you feel through a variety of activities. Instead of spending the sessions always in a room, let’s explore doing reflective sessions in the outdoors, or with art! I envision a space where we try out different activities together and through this process have ‘aha! This is why I feel a certain way’ moments.
